Grat-z was founded by Lorice Sherman, a traveler who saw the need for a uniform gratuity system.

“Many times, while my husband and I traveled, we found ourselves scrambling at the end of a cruise or tour in search of an envelope for the gratuities we wanted to offer.  We didn’t want to just hand over currency in public, or use the hotel or cruise line’s own envelopes—we wanted something more personal.

That’s when I came up with the idea to create a gratuity system.” explained Lorice Sherman, Grat-Z President and creator of Grat-Pack.

"Actually, we were on a trip to Europe and needed to prepare our tips for the Tour Director and Bus Driver.  Our Director noted that it was imperative that we gave our tips to the driver discreetly, since many thieves know how tourists tip at the last stop of the tour.  We didn't have envelopes or paper in our hotel room, and had to take precious time to wait in line at the reception desk to ask for some.  Then, as we were driving through the French countryside, the idea for the Grat-Pack hit me.  I could create a simple system that could not only be prepared in advance, but also keep track of spending."

We realize that we cannot leave home without our Grat-Pack.  It's been a small blessing throughout our journeys.  We can just toss it in our carry-on and never have to worry about finding an envelope which can be difficult at foreign hotels.  We even use the envelopes to tip on cruises too! 

Grat-Z is located in Gilbert, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix.
